What's the difference between sidemount and a backplate-and-wing?
In sidemount you carry your cylinders clipped along your sides rather than on your back. It's the standard for cave and many technical divers — streamlined for tight spaces, easy to don in the water, and you can manage each cylinder independently. The Hammerhead is NEX's dedicated sidemount rig; for a back-mounted single-tank setup, see the Leatherback backplate-and-wing system.
Do I need the 16 lb or 36 lb bladder?
16 lb is streamlined and ideal for warm-water recreational sidemount with aluminium cylinders. 36 lb is high-capacity with a tougher cover for caves, wrecks, heavier steel tanks, or stages. You can also buy the harness alone and add a bladder later.
Can I buy just the harness?
Yes — choose 'Harness only' for the adjustable sidemount harness on its own ($455), then add a Hammerhead bladder whenever you're ready.
